For the first time in Mongolia, the National Evaluation Standard has officially been announced to be developed. Under the Memorandum of Understanding with the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval), the Authority for Government Supervision (AGS) and the DeVal jointly organized two consecutive training seminars over four days on “Evaluation Standards” and “Policy Evaluation.”
The first two-day training was led by Ms. Laura Kunert, expert at DEval, and Ms. Erdenechimeg, Founder and Chair of the Board of the Mongolian Evaluation Association. The sessions introduced policy evaluation methodologies based on the evaluation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the OECD-DAC criteria, and the principles of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development alongside international best practices.
Some 60 civil servants responsible for monitoring and evaluation from AGS, ministries, and the Governor’s Offices of provinces and the capital city participated in the training, contributing their insights and experiences to the development of the National Evaluation Standard.
The subsequent training was conducted by Mr. Dirk Hofmann, expert at DEval, for officials from AGS and government institutions involved in the evaluation project for the Food Supply and Safety policy.
Chief of the AGS, Ms. B. Batsetseg, met with DEval experts to reaffirm commitment to continued cooperation, including the phased institutionalization of evaluation standards and methodologies and to the strengthening of evaluation capacity of civil servants.
